Los Angeles police arrested an alleged trespasser who reportedly frightened actress Lindsay Lohan at her California home on New Year's Day.

Lonnie Short, 64, was being held on $1,000 bail, according to booking documents cited by TMZ.com Monday.

TMZ said Short knocked on the door of Lohan's house in the Venice Beach section of Los Angeles about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

When Lohan, 25, came to the door and asked what he wanted, Short responded cryptically that he needed to speak with her.

Lohan called police, who arrived and arrested Short.

Lohan's spokesman, Steve Honig, declined to comment.

Lohan, who was raised in Merrick and Cold Spring Harbor, is doing community service on 2007 DUI convictions. Her next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 17.
