Andy Cohen was filled with gratitude for Kelly Ripa when he appeared on the post-Thanksgiving episode of her talk show.

The Bravo TV personality revealed on Friday’s “Live With Kelly” that he was diagnosed with skin cancer earlier this year, and thanks to the insistence of Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, that he see a doctor to examine a black discoloration on his lip back in April, the disease was caught in time.

“The two of you were dogmatic that I get it checked out,” Cohen said. “And I didn’t, because I was like, “Oh no, I’m sure it’s nothing.’ And she kept on me.”

When he finally did see a doctor, Cohen was told it was melanoma, one of the most dangerous forms of skin cancer.

“The lip heals very well. I really had a chunk removed out of it,” Cohen said, adding that everything is now “fine.”

The “Watch What Happens Live” host and Ripa also urged viewers to be cognizant of the disease and proactive about any suspicious marks. Cohen’s health care is not covered in his new book, “Superficial: More Adventures From the Andy Cohen Diaries,” which came out Nov. 15.

Cohen is not the only celebrity to recently reveal a battle with skin cancer. Hugh Jackman has been open about his own brush with the disease, and in August, reality-TV star Khloe Kardashian acknowledged that she had a cancerous mole removed.
