Avril Lavigne suffering from undisclosed health problems, asks fans for prayers
Singer Avril Lavigne is suffering from an undisclosed illness and has reached out to fans for support.
"I feel bad because I haven't been able to say anything to the fans to let them know why I've been absent," Lavigne, 30, told the fan site Avril Music Charts in an exchange that her representative told Billboard was authentic. "I'm torn as I'm quite private," she said. "I'm not feeling well. I'm having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers."
On her own Twitter page afterward, Lavigne responded to fans' support, writing, "Thank you."
Lavigne's representative, who did not identify the health malady or its severity, did scotch speculation that the Canadian punk-pop singer was pregnant. Lavigne married Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger on July 1, 2013.
Among her string of hits, Lavigne released the No. 1 "Girlfriend" in 2007. Her 2013 single "Here's to Never Growing Up" was certified platinum.
