Billy Joel to benefit animal group on birthday
Billy Joel may be celebrating his birthday at his May 9 Madison Square Garden concert, but he's the one giving the presents, Newsday's Glenn Gamboa reports. Joel plans to donate a portion of the show's proceeds to the North Shore Animal League's Bianca's Furry Friends campaign being spearheaded by his friends Howard and Beth Stern. The campaign would fund the addition of a second floor to the group's Port Washington headquarters and expand space for animal care.
