Catherine Zeta-Jones home after treatment for bipolar II disorder
Oscar- and Tony Award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones was expected home Tuesday after her most recent inpatient stay to treat bipolar II disorder.
"She comes home tomorrow," her husband, two-time Academy Award winner Michael Douglas told People magazine on Monday. "She's doing a really good job of getting balanced. I'm proud of her."
He told "Extra" the same day that, "Catherine's doing wonderful. She's got herself worked out with her meds and she's raring to go!"
Zeta-Jones, 43, entered a treatment facility on April 29 for what reports described as a 30-day program. Her spokeswoman, Sarah Fuller, told The Associated Press at the time that the actress "is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner."
Zeta-Jones has bipolar II, which the National Institute of Mental Health calls a milder form of the lifelong and recurrent illness characterized by severe shifts in mood, energy, activity levels and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks.
