'CBS Evening News' producer leaving

Katie Couric is leaving "CBS Evening News" in a few weeks, but her executive producer, Rick Kaplan, will leave Thursday, he told the staff Tuesday, which a network source confirmed, according to Newsday's Verne Gay. Kaplan's departure -- first reported late Tuesday in the New York Times' "Media Decoder" -- had been expected. Scott Pelley becomes anchor June 6. A former producer for Walter Cronkite, and president of CNN/US and MSNBC, Kaplan was brought to the show in early 2007.
