Mark Wahlberg stars as real-life junior welterweight "Irish" Micky Ward in the new film "The Fighter." Will Smith portrayed heavyweight legend Muhammad Ali in the biopic "Ali" (2001). Now a celebrity-boxing promoter says he is offering each screen star a million dollars to get into a real-life ring for charity.

"I was watching 'The Fighter' the other day, and it was unbelievable how convincing Mark Wahlberg was" playing the real-life Ward, says Damon Feldman, whose Hollywood Boxing Federation, formerly the Celebrity Boxing Federation, has previously arranged for charity bouts involving the likes of Danny Bonaduce, Jose Canseco, Rodney King and Michael Lohan.

Wahlberg and Smith "both are trained, both are skilled, and it's way of raising $2 million for charity," Feldman told Newsday. "Guys involved in investment with us before are committed to putting the money up," he says.

The stars would fight three one-minute bouts, he says, using heavily padded, 24-ounce boxing gloves and wearing headgear and mouthpieces.

"I have connections to people affiliated with them," Feldman says. "We're putting the word out there now."

If it happens, the charity match would take place late February in an as-yet undetermined Las Vegas venue. Smith's representative did not return a phone call; Wahlberg's representative was unavailable.
