Seann William Scott, best known as the overbearing but softhearted tough guy Stifler in the "American Pie" comedies, has entered an undisclosed treatment facility for an unspecified condition, Newsday contributor Frank Lovece reports. "Seann William Scott has voluntarily admitted himself for proactive treatment to address health and personal issues," his rep said in a statement Wednesday. "He appreciates the support of his many fans at this time." Meanwhile, the actor, 34, along with fellow franchise stars Jason Biggs and Eugene Levy, has completed negotiations to appear in the series' fourth release, "American Reunion," said The Hollywood Reporter yesterday.

Jermaine's Jackson memoir coming out

A long-rumored memoir by Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine is finally coming out, The Associated Press reports. Touchstone announced yesterday that Jermaine Jackson's "You are Not Alone: Michael: Through a Brother's Eye" will be released this fall. Touchstone, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, promises a "faithful and loving portrait," but one with "no subject off limits." Jackson spoke in 2003 of wanting to write a memoir and reports surfaced again after Michael's death, in 2009. Sisters Janet Jackson and La Toya Jackson also have books out this year.

Def Jam's Reid to join 'X Factor' as judge

Island Def Jam chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid will be a judge on Fox's upcoming "The X Factor," says The Hollywood Reporter. Reid, whose contract with Universal Music is up in December, will get an early release so that he can take part in Simon Cowell's show, which awards a Sony Music recording contract worth $5 million to the winner.
