Music icon and Academy Award-winning actress Cher says she still suffers from pronoun trouble when referring to her transgendered daughter-turned-son, Chaz.

"She's a very smart girl - boy! This is where I get into trouble," she told Vanity Fair in excerpts from its December issue. "My pronouns are --. I still don't remember to call her 'him.' "

Cher, 64, who stars with Christina Aguilera in the upcoming film "Burlesque," admitted to failings with both her children - Chaz, born Chastity Bono, 41, her son with her late husband and musical partner Sonny Bono; and Elijah Allman, 34, her son with rocker Gregg Allman, her second husband. "One time, when Chaz was little, we were on a field trip, and she said, 'I'm so -- off, Mom. You can never not be Cher - we can never just do something.' So your kids pay. I did the best I could do, and yet it was definitely lacking."

She also told the magazine, "Sonny and I still aren't in the [Rock and Roll] Hall of Fame, and it just seems kind of rude. Sonny was a good writer, and we started something that no one else was doing. We were weird hippies before there was a name for it, when the Beatles were wearing sweet little haircuts and round-collared suits. . . . We influenced a generation, and it's like: 'What more do you want?' "
