Pop star Christina Aguilera confirmed Tuesday that she and her husband, music executive Jordan Bratman, have split.
"Although Jordan and I are separated," the singer said in a statement, "our commitment to our son, Max, remains as strong as ever."
The couple's child, Max Liron Bratman, turned 2 in January.
"He is their main concern," a source told Us magazine Tuesday. "Christina is doing her best to be a great mom. She has a lot to juggle, but she's learning how to make it work and balance it all."
Aguilera, 29, and Bratman, 33, began dating in 2002, and wed in California's Napa Valley in November 2005.
The couple "have been separated for a few months," the source told Us, adding, "They were very much in love. But over the last six months, it became clear they were more like friends than husband and wife."
The source claimed Aguilera had "proposed their August trip to Italy to rekindle their relationship, but it didn't help."
Court records in Los Angeles do not show any filings for divorce by either Aguilera or Bratman, The Associated Press reported.
Said the Us source, "hey are now living apart, and they will see how that goes."
The Grammy Award winner's website made no mention of the separation.
The site's most recent post, dated Oct. 12, hypes the singer's upcoming movie "Burlesque," in which she stars as a small-town girl in Los Angeles who's mentored by a legendary dancer (played by Cher) at a neo-burlesque club.
