For Phil Collins fans, the past few days have been as confusing as trying to decipher the meaning of "Sussudio."

Did he retire? Did he not retire? It was all unclear.

However, the man himself has stepped forward to clear things up -- sort of.

"I am stopping so I can be a full-time father to my two young sons on a daily basis," Collins, 60, wrote on his blog.

The former Genesis singer and drummer said all the retirement speculation was "a mystery" and that many of his statements have been distorted.

"The result is that I have ended up sounding like a tormented weirdo who thinks he was at the Alamo in another life, who feels very sorry for himself, and is retiring hurt because of the bad press over the years," he said. "None of this is true."

So, for the record, "stopping?" Yes.

"Retiring?" No.
