Police in Sherman Oaks, Calif., Tuesday arrested a man with two kitchen knives attempting to break into Paris Hilton's house.
A 911 call about an intruder in the gated Mulholland Estates community came at 6:42 a.m. California time, Los Angeles County Police spokesman Gregory Baek told CNN. Nathan Parada, 31, was taken into custody near the home, said TMZ.com in a later report, and was being held on $50,000 bail. No one was injured.
Police said Parada had banged on the door and was confronted by Hilton's unidentified boyfriend, who was inside the house, according to the Los Angeles Times. At some point during the confrontation, Hilton, 29, tweeted, "So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes. Cops are here arresting him."
Dawn Miller, the hotel heiress' publicist, told CNN, "The security cameras and alarm system were alerted and the police immediately came to the house and arrested the intruder who was attempting to break a window when they arrived."
Miller later released a statement saying: "Paris is naturally shaken by the events but is unharmed and well. She is very thankful to her security team and the police for their swift and diligent response."
Around 7:20 a.m., Hilton posted a Twitter photo that showed uniformed and plainclothes police milling about a handcuffed man with short hair, a gray pullover shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
TMZ.com later said that according to police sources, the suspect's mother had reported him missing from a suburb east of Los Angeles. Parada was arrested in San Bernardino, Calif., in July on suspicion of burglary, TMZ said.
