"Cougar Town" star Courteney Cox insists that she and husband, actor-director David Arquette, are not planning to divorce, and that their separation is a "courageous thing."
"I don't know what will happen, but this is not like we're getting divorced," she told the Australian magazine TV Week on Sunday. "This is a separation, and I think that takes a lot of courage."
"I would say the most courageous thing . . . [is] getting separated from someone after so many years of marriage and someone I love so much, just to take a moment and [have what] is a trial separation," Cox, 46, said.
Since the separation became public last month, Arquette, 39, has spoken on Howard Stern's radio show in intimate detail about his marriage and his sexual encounters since the split. Cox waved off any concerns. "He's a kook," she said of Arquette. "It's not shocking, and Howard Stern - he loves him and I'm a fan of Howard Stern. I don't know that I would call him right now, but . . . David is an entertainer and I'm sure the people who listen to the radio are entertained by his stories."
Her friendship with former "Friends" co-star Jennifer Aniston has been helping her, Cox said. "We just have fun, we laugh, we're inseparable and it's great," she said of Aniston, who made a guest appearance in the "Cougar Town" season premiere Sept. 22. "It's funny. A lot of really close friends are kind of going through this right now or like Jennifer [who] has gone through it. I don't know what's going on in the planets or what, but things are being shaken up and I don't know what's going to happen."
As for her immediate future, "I am not doing anything. No dating," Cox said. "I hate to go out, so I don't know how that would work. I'm a homebody."
