"Dancing With the Stars" judge Carrie Ann Inaba got proposed to on live TV Thursday by her boyfriend of two years -- though she'd already told a magazine last month that she and beau Jesse Sloan were "planning a summer wedding on the beach."
Whatever the real story is, choreographer Inaba, 43, was guest co-host on "Live! With Regis and Kelly" Thursday when Regis Philbin, toward the end of the show, read a viewer letter from some lovestruck soul who wanted to propose to his girlfriend. "I really want to do something romantic and special," the letter read. "Do you have any suggestions?"
As Inaba giggled, Philbin suggested low lighting (the studio lights dim), romantic music (enter strolling violinists), some flowers (red roses appear) and the ring -- cue Sloan, 39, an accountant, who on bended knee professed to Inaba, "I struggle to find the words to express what you mean to me. You're an inspiration. You're beautiful. You're wonderful. You're everything to me. Will you marry me?" Spoiler alert: She said yes.
The timing and specific circumstances may or may not have been a surprise, since Inaba told Prevention magazine last month, "Yes," when asked whether she and Sloan were getting married. "We're planning a summer wedding on the beach. There's something about looking into the vast blue ocean that always puts life into perspective."
One can plan a wedding prior to a formal proposal, of course, but it never hurts to have a 2 ½-carat, D-color, princess-cut diamond solitaire ring in platinum from the high-end jeweler Rafinity, as People magazine described the ring, just to show that one's serious.
