"Dancing With the Stars" dancer Karina Smirnoff is engaged, People magazine reports.
In fact, the ballroom dancer told the magazine, her fiance, professional baseball player Brad Penny, popped the question on Oct. 4.
"We kept it quiet because my family is in New York and Brad's family is in Oklahoma so we kind of wanted them to come out and celebrate and be a family first before we let the cat out of the bag," she said Saturday at Tao Las Vegas' 5-year anniversary party.
Smirnoff and Penny, both 32, were introduced by a mutual friend, UFC fighter Chuck Liddell, and started dating last October, shortly after Smirnoff ended her engagement to "Dancing" co-star Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Penny, who played last year for the St. Louis Cardinals, was not at the Tao event, but Smirnoff said he sent her a note in a fortune cookie apologizing for his absence. Also in the cookie - an Everlon diamond necklace. "I'm marrying a Southern gentleman," she said.
