Daniel Baldwin files for divorce

Joanne Smith Baldwin, wife of Daniel Baldwin, was arrested yesterday in Oregon for driving under the influence -- a violation of her probation on a previous DUI, according to the local Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
This came the same day Baldwin filed for divorce, after having obtained a restraining order against her. Baldwin's petition said his wife's frequent alcoholic tirades led to police removing her from their home on Sunday for the safety of the couple's two young daughters.
"Due to recent events in our home and for the safety of my children and myself, I have made this decision," Baldwin, 50, said in a statement. "I have had my share of problems with drugs and alcohol many years ago and know firsthand how difficult a position she is in. My hopes and prayers are with Joanne."
Baldwin appeared on the VH1 reality show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" in 2008.
"It's sad this is happening," Baldwin's manager, John McGalliard, told Newsday. "Daniel tried to get her help and she just turned ugly."
Baldwin was granted temporary custody of Avis, 3, and Finley Rae, 1.
