Elizabeth Peña autopsy finds actress died of complications from alcohol abuse, report says
ActressElizabeth Peña who died Oct. 14 at age 55, suffered from cirrhosis of the liver "due to alcohol" and died of complications from alcohol abuse, according to her death certificate, TMZ.com reported Wednesday. The site said she had long suffered from the disease but that it became acute shortly before her death. Peña's long list of film and TV credits includes "La Bamba," "Down and Out in Beverly Hills," "Lone Star" and, recently, two appearances as the mother of Sofia Vergara's character on the hit sitcom "Modern Family."
