Fashion world does its part to help Haiti

Supermodel Naomi Campbell knocked on the doors of the fashion community to do its part to aid relief efforts in Haiti - and they have opened wide.

To this end, an all-star fashion show will take place Feb. 12 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Bryant Park that will include the likes of Christy Turlington; Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York; celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, who will put together the looks; and designer Marc Jacobs, who has created a special Louis Vuitton handbag for the cause. Though Campbell, 39, rarely takes to the catwalk these days, she will be one of the models in the show.

This is not Campbell's first foray into fundraising for a cause. After Hurricane Katrina, she held a "Fashion for Relief" event at Bryant Park and has since taken it to Tanzania and Mumbai, India.

In a phone interview with The Associated Press, Campbell said: "Everyone else is trying to help Haiti, and we wanted to do our part on the fashion side of things. The response has been overwhelming. No one has said 'no' - which means a lot because it's such a busy time with designers preparing their collections."

According to Campbell, the designer Charlotte Ronson gave up her 8 p.m. time slot in the tents at Fashion Week to allow for the event.

Many of the designer garments and accessories in the show will be donated and auctioned online at the Net-A-Porter Web site starting Feb. 15. Though the show is still in its planning stages, tickets will go on sale to American Express card members at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster for $100 and $150.

General public tickets go on sale Monday at 10 p.m. One hundred percent of ticket sales will benefit CARE and go to rebuilding Haiti's health care system.
