Some stars popped with colors, feathers and sexy trains, and others went "nude" at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards Sunday night.

Those wearing the neutral palette included Charlize Theron, glamorous in a thigh-high-slit blush Dior gown; Mary J. Blige in suntan Michael Kors (with feathers); Kate Beckinsale, flawless in a strapless Roberto Cavalli; and a slew of stars who did takes on lavender, including Shailene Woodley in perfect-fitting Marchesa, Octavia Spencer in violet Tadashi Shoji and Jessica Alba in sparkly Gucci.

Black, for once, looked super sharp a la Claire Danes' "bringing sexy back" J. Mendel frock; Kate Winslet's Swarovski-crystal-embellished black and white Jenny Packham; Mila Kunis' bad-girl Dior, and, lest we forget, "Dragon" girl Rooney Mara's stark, body-baring, bondage-style Nina Ricci number. Noted: She wore a casual ponytail and not a stitch of jewelry.

Some of the ladies sang the blues: Sofia Vergara donned an inky Vera Wang with swirling mermaid train; Freida Pinto wore "no-fuss" textured teal Prada (with major neck bling); Michelle Williams was ladylike in Jason Wu's velvet flocked gown.

Poor Sarah Michelle Gellar's ill-fitting royal-and-white tie-dye Monique Lhuillier gown may have been the miss of the night.

True drama queens did their own thing: Evan Rachel Wood, faintingly fab in dark green Gucci with feathers and sequins; and Angelina Jolie, whose ivory, body-hugging Versace featured a brazen red collar that matched her purse and lipstick. Other notables: Reese Witherspoon in cinnamon Zac Posen, and Zooey Deschanel's custom, glassy Prada.

And of course, there was Madonna, whose green sparkling Reem Acra showed off her assets, although her English accent may have been fake.
