Oscar winner Halle Berry has married her fiance, French actor Olivier Martinez.

The two, engaged since early last year and expecting a child together, were wed Saturday at the Chateau des Conde in Vallery, France, Berry's spokeswoman, Meredith O'Sullivan Wasson, told The Associated Press.

Chateau owner Patrice Vansteenberghe told AP the couple "were very beautiful and very happy."

Berry wore a white wedding gown "with a deeply plunging back," he said, adding that Berry had asked that the event be confidential because "she wanted to be left alone on the day of her marriage."

People magazine said a civil union first was held that afternoon, in accordance with French law, followed by a religious ceremony. The roughly 60 guests included the groom's mother, Rosemarie, and brother Vincent. Fireworks enlivened the reception.

This is the third marriage for Berry, 46. She married baseball player David Justice in January 1993, but they later divorced. In January 2001, she married singer Eric Benét; the two announced their separation in October 2003, with their divorce finalized in January 2005. Berry later lived with model Gabriel Aubry, the father of her daughter, Nahla, 5. The couple broke up in 2010.

She met Martinez, 47, in September 2010 when they co-starred in the thriller "Dark Tide." The actor, who was born and raised in Paris, is best known to U.S. audiences as adulterous wife Diane Lane's lover in "Unfaithful" (2002), also starring Richard Gere. This is his first marriage. In June, Martinez confirmed he and Berry are expecting a boy together.
