Interview-shy Hugh Grant has opened up about the baby he had in September following a brief affair with Chinese actress Tinglan Hong.
The "About a Boy" and "Love Actually" star, 51, revealed to the British newspaper The Guardian over the weekend that his daughter's name is Tabitha. He said he chose that English name while Hong, 32, bestowed a Chinese name that he did not disclose. Hong, with whom he is not in a romantic relationship, "is a good person, a nice person; funny, clever, great mother."
Grant said people had warned him that "the baby period is not that exciting. But I am excited, actually. I thought, well, I'll bluff through -- but very little bluffing has been required. I like my daughter very much. Fantastic. Has she changed my life? I'm not sure. Not yet. Not massively, no. But I'm absolutely thrilled to have had her, I really am. And I feel a better person."
And one who feels unexpected paternal pride. "There probably is some truth that one of our main functions on the planet is to reproduce, because it feels like more of an achievement than it should. Which is nonsense, really. But yesterday I took my daughter to see my father, who's in [the] hospital, and all the nurses were cooing over her. And I felt, well, pride."
