A video showing Hugh Jackman rescuing beachgoers who were caught in a riptide in Australia is convincing social media users that the “Wolverine” actor is a real-life superhero.
The video, posted to Facebook by 9 News on Saturday, appears to show the actor running into crashing waves on Bondi Beach to save a man and two young swimmers. One of them was later identified by the publication as Jackman’s 15-year-old son, Oscar.
“Hugh and Oscar are completely fine,” Jackman’s representative said in a statement, ABC News reported on Saturday. “It looks more dramatic than it was.”
No matter the severity of the situation, the release of the video has left social media users to call out the similarities between the actor and his on-screen superhero character.
“Hugh Jackman is the Wolverine. Nuff’ said,” one Twitter user tweeted on Saturday.
He really “is a superhero,” another wrote.
