It's almost over: Johnny Depp, Paradis

The relationship between "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp and French actress-singer Vanessa Paradis -- his companion of nearly 14 years and the mother of their two children -- is just about over, People magazine reports in its issue out Friday.
The two essentially have not been a couple for perhaps two years, the magazine said. Depp, 48, and Paradis, 39, who both dote on daughter Lily-Rose, 12, and son Jack, 9, have only been seen together under family circumstances, including a Mediterranean yacht cruise last summer in which they arrived and departed separately.
Depp surprised observers by appearing without Paradis at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards. Paradis was likewise a no-show in November at the Paris premiere of "The Rum Diary," which Depp both starred in and produced.
The following evening, she and fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who has photographed her for Chanel ad campaigns, attended an event together.
She also did not accompany Depp to the Cannes Film Festival screening of the fourth "Pirates" movie in May, though they have an estate in nearby Plan-de-la-Tour. The couple, who met in 1998, lived there happily for years before moving to Los Angeles in 2003 as Depp's career took off.
Following the first "Pirates" film, Depp began spending time away from home on film sets while Paradis remained in Los Angeles, where their children attend private school. Now the two may not even be living together there, People suggested, noting that Depp owns several houses in the hills near the Chateau Marmont.
Depp's spokeswoman did not respond to Newsday's request for comment.
Depp is now preparing to leave for New Mexico, where he will play Tonto in "Pirates" director Gore Verbinski's "The Lone Ranger."
