Johansson rep: She's not smitten with Penn
A representative for Scarlett Johansson Thursday denied that the "Lost in Translation" star is "smitten with" Sean Penn.
"There is no truth to this at all," the representative told the debunking website GossipCops.com.
The issue arose Thursday in Us magazine, in which a source claimed the two began seeing each other in early January when Johansson, 26, was living at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles while filming "We Bought a Zoo," co-starring Matt Damon.
Johansson, 26, and Penn, 50, attended a party for the film "Black Swan" at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles on Feb. 5. They reportedly were seen smoking cigarettes together outside, going back to the party and then leaving, five minutes apart.
"Their first hookup was in Scarlett's bungalow," claimed the source, who said, "Scarlett first reached out to Sean when she was planning to visit Haiti with Oxfam," the consortium of 14 international groups fighting hunger and poverty. "She knew Sean was living there in a tent and turned to him for advice."
While Johansson did not ultimately make that trip, the source said that she developed feelings for Penn, who in August split with his wife of 14 years, actress Robin Wright. Johansson and actor Ryan Reynolds announced in December they were ending their two-year marriage.
