An Indiana judge Wednesday modified a no-contact order between Amber Portwood, one of the stars of the MTV reality show "Teen Mom," and Gary Shirley, the father of their toddler daughter, Leah.

Portwood, 20, spent time in jail in December after being charged with domestic violence against Shirley, 22.

"I never wanted this in the first place," Shirley told Judge David Happe of the no-contact order, according to E! News. He said he and Portwood now plan "to take things slow," and added, "The end goal is to go for marriage."

The judge is not permitting the two to meet in the presence of Leah, 2, however.

"I want to make sure Leah doesn't end up in the middle of the turmoil that seems to be surrounding the two of you right now," he said, according to Us magazine.

Portwood and Shirley left the courthouse hand in hand, according to the magazine.
