Police on Tuesday were searching for a man witnesses say tried to burn down the Kardashian family’s Dash boutique in Los Angeles.

Lt. Edward Ramirez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told GossipCop.com that at about 11:20 p.m. Monday, a witness “driving by saw a male suspect throwing a lit object through the window.” Shortly afterward, police “received a burglary alarm call at the same location,” where a “smoldering object was found inside” the boutique at 8420 Melrose Ave.

TMZ.com, which first reported the incident, said the object was a weighted, burning rag. Police found a bottle of lighter fluid outside the store, the website said. The shop, which was closed at the time, did not catch fire.

Reality-TV stars Kourtney, Khloé and Kim Kardashian launched the Dash chain in Calabasas, California, in 2006, a year before E! debuted “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” The flagship store later moved to its present location, and two additional outlets opened in Manhattan and Miami Beach. Last year’s E! spinoff “Dash Dolls” featured employees of the Los Angeles shop.

A temporary pop-up store opened on Jobs Lane in Southampton in July 2014.
