Just two days before the season premiere of her reality show, "L.A. Ink," tattoo artist Kat von D tweeted that she and Jesse James have ended their relationship. The two were engaged in January and had talked about a summer wedding.

"I am no longer w Jesse, and out of respect for him, his family and myself, thats all the info I'd like to share. Thanks for respecting that," von D, 29, posted on her Twitter page about midnight Tuesday. "If you think about it, failure is just another mind generated thought . . . Nothing more. :)," she added several hours later.

Car and motorcycle customizer James, 42 -- who infamously was caught cheating on his Oscar-winning wife, Sandra Bullock, last year, leading to his third divorce -- confirmed the breakup, telling People magazine, "I'm so sad because I really love her. The distance between us was just too much."

James, former star of the reality show "Monster Garage," moved to outside Austin, Texas, last year with his children Chandler, 16, Jesse Jr., 14, and Sunny, 7, so they could be near Bullock.

Von D lives in Los Angeles, where she has her shop, High Voltage, and tapes her TLC show, which heads into its fifth season tomorrow night.

Despite a report in People magazine two weeks ago that on the premiere von D would "become engaged to her soul mate, James," a spokeswoman for TLC told Newsday, "There's no proposal on the season premiere. The season opens with them already engaged."

Von D's representative did not respond to a request for comment.
