Katie Couric marries financier in East Hampton

Newswoman Katie Couric and financier John Molner were married Saturday at a private ceremony at their East Hampton home.

Couric, 57, wore an ivory beaded and embroidered Chantilly-lace halter gown by Carmen Marc Valvo, her spokesman Matthew Hiltzik confirmed to Newsday. The couple's friend John Ellis officiated the nuptials, which were attended by longtime friends and close family, including the groom's children, Allie and Henry, and Couric's daughters, Ellie, 22, and Carrie, 18. Molner's nieces and nephews were flower girls and ring bearers.

The event was catered by Topping Rose House of Bridgehampton, which also provided the strawberry lemon cake, which included lemon thyme and garden strawberry sorbet. Hank Lane provided the music. The florist was Elissa Held Events with Gorgeous Garden arrangements. After the ceremony, Couric tweeted a photo of herself and her new husband, writing, "So excited to make my debut as Mrs. John Molner!"

Couric, an ABC News correspondent and Yahoo! News "global anchor," and Molner, 51, a partner at Brown Brothers Harriman, where he heads mergers and acquisitions, became engaged over Labor Day weekend last year. The two had begun dating in 2011 and went public with their relationship in April 2012.

This is the second marriage for Couric, whose Manhasset-born first husband, lawyer and NBC News legal analyst Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in January 1998 at age 42.
