Katy Perry cancels Egypt birthday party plans due to security concerns, report says
Pop star Katy Perry reportedly has canceled plans for a lavish 30th birthday party in Egypt because of safety and security concerns.
The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday that the singer, who turns 30 on Saturday, is on a three-week break from her Prismatic World Tour and had planned to take her entourage to parties and tourist destinations in Egypt as well as on a Nile River cruise. Perry and her team canceled the Egypt plans after its itinerary leaked, the magazine said.
E! News added that Perry's plans during her break also included to travel to Morocco, South Africa and Paris, and that there was no word on whether these additional destinations remained in place.
Perry's personal publicist did not respond to a Newsday request for comment. Her record-company spokeswoman said, "As always, I don't comment on Katy's personal life."
The singer's tour resumes on Nov. 7 with the Australia/New Zealand leg, running through Dec. 20.
