The pair had been casually dating for the past couple of months, recently being seen together having dinner at Chateau Marmont and attending an animal-filled birthday bash at a Hollywood talent agent's home. Perry recently divorced Russell Brand, and dated Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd earlier this year. Mayer has previously dated Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.
