She added that the couple’s daughter North, 4, and son, Saint, 2, “are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
No name was announced. Kardashian revealed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Nov. 15 that at the time she and West still had not decided on one. “We’re freaking out, we have no name,” she told the daytime talk-show host. “It’s so hard,” she said, adding that she and West were looking for something “short, easy to spell, one syllable. That’s kind of my vibe.”
Kardashian’s pregnancies with her first two children had been medically troubled, prompting the use of a surrogate. After suffering early-onset pre-eclampsia, the reality star delivered North almost six weeks early. Kardashian additionally suffered from placenta accreta, a high-risk condition requiring surgery. She had placenta accreta again after delivering Saint.
Kardashian had announced the surrogacy on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” in April, telling her sisters Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian that her doctor warned her against carrying another baby. She then said in a camera insert that, “I always knew that surrogacy was an option, but I didn’t think it was that realistic of an option. And now I feel like that’s my reality,” noting she had spoken with West about the issue. “I feel like surrogacy really is the only other option for me.”
Kardashian and West married May 24, 2014, in a lavish ceremony in Florence, Italy.
