Tennis star Anna Kournikova -- who may never have risen above No. 8 in women's tennis rankings but who famously has graced the covers of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Maxim and other magazines -- could be announced Tuesday night as the newest trainer on "The Biggest Loser," according to multiple reports.

With Jillian Michaels having announced in December that this season would be her last -- telling "Access Hollywood" in February that she was attempting to adopt a child from the Democratic Republic of Congo -- a slot opened up to work alongside longtime trainer Bob Harper and new trainers Cara Castronuova and Brett Hoebel, who are all returning for season 12.

"We don't have any comment at this time, but we will be making a big announcement about season 12 at the live finale of 'The Biggest Loser' " Tuesday night, said an NBC spokeswoman. Kournikova's publicist did not respond to Newsday's requests for comment.

Kournikova, 29, who has dated singer Enrique Iglesias since 2001, put her Mediterranean-style Miami Beach, Fla., home up for sale early this month for $9.4 million, according to the real-estate site Trulia.com.

On the court, Kournikova's specialty has been doubles, but her career has been derailed for the past several years by serious back and spinal problems.

CBS Television Distribution has announced that Michaels has signed a multiyear deal to join the syndicated panel-discussion show "The Doctors," as well as serve as a correspondent on "Dr. Phil."
