Cosmetics mogul and reality-TV star Kylie Jenner announced Monday that she and her boyfriend, rapper Travis Scott, are changing the name of their nearly 7-week-old second child, son Wolf.
"FYI our son[']s name isn't Wolf anymore," Jenner, 24, wrote in graphical text on Instagram Stories, where posts cycle out after 24 hours. "We just really didn't feel like it was him. Just wanted to share because I keep seeing Wolf everywhere."
Jenner, part of the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" reality-show clan and the founder of Kylie Cosmetics, gave no indication of what new name, if any yet, had been decided upon. It was unclear if the infant's middle name, Jacques, would remain. Scott, 30, born Jacques Bermon Webster II, has not commented publicly.
Some social-media trolls had criticized her for naming the child Wolf, despite several distinguished people bearing that name, including CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, chef Wolfgang Puck, guitarist Wolfgang Van Halen and Academy Award-nominated director Wolfgang Petersen ("Das Boot").
Jenner on Monday also posted on her 11.7-million-subscriber YouTube channel a 9¾-minute video montage of her pregnancy, baby shower and other touchstones, culminating in the hospital delivery room. There her off-screen voice asks Scott, "Are you ready to have another baby?" He answers, "I'm ready." The video then cuts to Kylie Jenner's mother, Kris Jenner, her arms in the air, saying happily, "I am! Whooo!"
"Mom's here," Kylie Jenner says from off-screen. "She's always pumped and ready to go." Jenner then turns the camera toward herself, smiling and holding her belly. Then over a blackened screen we hear various females voices say, "He's out!" "Hi, buddy!" "Your son is here!" "Congratulations, Kylie!" A male voice, presumably Scott's, asks, "What's up, boy? What's up, big boy?," followed by the sound of a newborn's cry. Various female voices follow: "There's the cry!" "Happy birthday, two-two twenty-two!"
An end card reads, on three lines of text: "To our son 8lbs 13 oz." Kylie Jenner on Feb. 6 had announced the birth on Instagram with a black-and-white close-up photo of an adult hand holding an infant's hand, and text of a blue heart emoji and the date "2/2/22."
The couple's first child, daughter Stormi Webster, who has no middle name, was born Feb. 1, 2018.
