Former N*Sync member Lance Bass and aspiring actor Michael Turchin made history as the first same-sex couple to get married on an American TV network when they said their vows on Dec. 20, 2016. Their wedding was broadcast on E! on Feb. 5, 2017.

Singer Lance Bass, formerly of the boy band 'NSync, married aspiring actor Michael Turchin in Los Angeles.

E! News and People magazine jointly announced the wedding, which took place Saturday at the Park Plaza Hotel. The guest list included actresses Christina Applegate, Carmen Electra and Gabourey Sidibe, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Lisa Vanderpump and her husband Ken Todd, Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean and Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin. Actresses Jamie-Lynn Sigler and JoAnna Garcia Swisher served as officiants.

Bass' former bandmates Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and JC Chasez also attended, with Chasez performing during the new couple's first dance. Justin Timberlake is currently on tour and was unable to attend the nuptials.

Bass, 35, and Turchin, 27, designed their own tuxedos in collaboration with stylist Jeff Kim, according to People. "We love fashion, so it was really fun to design those," Bass told the magazine. The wedding tuxes "are traditional black tuxedos but each of us put a little twist on them by incorporating a little dark navy," added Turchin, who wore a black shirt and black bow tie while Bass wore a white shirt with navy bow tie. The reception tuxes "are a little more fun and colorful," he said. "I have this velvet in really deep, beautiful blue and Lance has this beautiful hunter green velvet jacket."

The wedding and its preparations will air Feb. 5 as a 90-minute special on E!, which calls it the first American TV network broadcast of a same-sex celebrity wedding.

The couple have been together since December 2011. Bass announced on Sept. 1, 2013, that the two had become engaged.

Saturday morning he tweeted, "Today I marry the man of my dreams. He makes me smile; he makes my heart melt; he makes me....me."
