Micheál Neeson, one of two sons of actor Liam Neeson and his late wife, actress Natasha Richardson, said his mother's death at age 45 in 2009 pushed him into a spiral of drug and alcohol abuse. The 19-year-old told London's The Sunday Times that, "In my mind, subconsciously, I either pushed it out or stored it deep inside," adding, "And so, within the next week I was like 'Okay, on with my life.' " But, calling it a "delayed reaction," he said that, "Last spring, things just started going downhill. The people I was with, we were partying a lot. . . . I hit rock bottom." He has since achieved sobriety through wilderness therapy in Utah, and works in London in the fashion industry. Richardson died at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan on March 18, 2009, two days after suffering head injuries in a skiing accident in Montreal.
