Lindsay Lohan, fresh off a successful stage debut in London's West End, says she plans to remain in the British capital and never return to Los Angeles, the site of many of her most infamous incidents.

"I won't live in L.A. again, hell no," Lohan, 28, told the UK newspaper The Observer. "My friends tell me [expletive] when they come over I don't want to hear. I don't even know who got married and who got pregnant. You turn on the news in L.A. and it is all gossip about people. All the stuff that is going on in the world right now and this gossip is the news?"

She added with a laugh, "I love the BBC. I haven't heard myself mentioned on TV since I have been here. That has been really weird for me, and great."

Lohan, originally from Merrick and Cold Spring Harbor, journeyed to London earlier this year to play the manipulative secretary, Karen, in a revival of David Mamet's "Speed-the-Plow." She received mixed but generally good notices in the Hollywood-set drama, which entered previews on Sept. 24 and ran a limited engagement from Oct. 2 to Nov. 29.

She has lived in London for nine months, and has a lease for another year on her apartment, The Observer said.

"In L.A., I didn't know what to do apart from go out every night," Lohan told the paper. "That's when my friends were free. And I would go out and there would be all these cameras there and that's when it became difficult," she said, referring to her drug and alcohol abuse, petty criminality, rehab and jail.

In London, conversely: "I can go for a run here on my own. I do every morning, early, and I think how my friends in New York would still be up partying at that time. I needed to grow up and London is a better place for me to do that than anywhere else."
