Lindsay Lohan knows she's an addict, mom tells NBC
Lindsay Lohan, in her latest rehab at the Betty Ford Center in California, now understands that she is an addict, her mother, Dina Lohan, told Matt Lauer on NBC's "Today" show Monday. "And being so young admitting that can only help her sobriety in the future," she added.
Lohan later said her daughter, 24, is "learning the trigger points and why she turns to drugs or addiction. It's a lifelong journey." She described Lindsay now as "happy, relaxed, just a different person."
Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan experienced an emotional reunion Sunday with her formerly estranged father, Michael Lohan, RadarOnline.com reported, quoting an unidentified "eyewitness."
"It was not a fleeting encounter; this appeared well-planned in advance," the source said. "[T]here were hugs, kisses and even a few tears when Michael and Lindsay first saw each other."
Michael Lohan, 50, told the site that while "I have pledged not to comment about anything relating to my daughter . . . I will say that I am an incredibly proud father tonight. My daughter is progressing extraordinarily well."
The two went shopping at a Palm Desert mall where their stops included a jewelry store.
Their outing marks the first time they have been in close contact since April.
Michael Lohan did not respond to a request for comment from Newsday.
