Lohan lawyer tries for lesser charge

Actress Lindsay Lohan seems a step closer to being in New York for the scheduled October shoot of "Gotti: Three Generations" after all, rather than in a Los Angeles jail. Lohan's attorney, Shawn Holley, brought a jewelry appraiser with her Thursday to LAPD headquarters, according to TMZ.com, to value the necklace that Lohan is accused of stealing. The plaintiff jeweler, Kamofie & Company, had given it a sales price of $2,500. But if Lohan's appraiser testifies that the piece is worth less than the $950 threshold for a felony case, the charge against the actress could be dropped to a misdemeanor at her scheduled hearing today.
