Lindsay Lohan rejected a judge's plea-bargain offer Thursday in a hearing on the troubled actress' felony grand theft case.

Los Angeles County Supreme Court Judge Keith Schwartz then extended the deadline until March 25 for Lohan to decide whether to accept his offer to plead guilty or no contest to the charge, and to accept a sentence that The Associated Press said he has worked out with her attorney.

If Lohan, who pleaded not guilty on Feb. 23, does not accept Schwartz's offer, she risks him ruling that the grand theft charge violates the terms of her probation in a 2007 DUI case, and being sent immediately to jail.

Additionally, said Schwartz, she will then have to appear before Judge Stephanie Sautner at a pretrial hearing on April 22. There prosecutors will present evidence allowing Sautner to rule whether Lohan must stand trial.

If Lohan accepts Schwartz's proposal, she may get as little as a 3-month sentence, said TMZ.com.

If she goes to trial and is convicted, the "Mean Girls" star, 24, could be sentenced to up to 3 years in state prison, according to the AP.

Lohan has been charged with one count of felony grand theft involving a $2,500 necklace taken from the Venice, Calif., jewelry store Kamofie & Co.

She has maintained that the necklace was borrowed and returned late.
