Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Peta Murgatroyd expecting 1st child, report says
Are “Dancing with the Stars” ballroom professionals Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy expecting their first child?
People magazine, citing what it said were multiple sources, said Wednesday that the engaged couple is in the family way. Murgatroyd, 29 — who won the show’s 22nd season on Monday with model Nyle DiMarco — told People in December that she “would like to start [having children] pretty soon. A little boy, and then a little girl,” while Chmerkovskiy, 36, said he preferred a “little girl first, then a little boy. I think an older girl would be more responsible” with a younger sibling.
Murgatroyd and deaf “America’s Next Top Model” winner Nyle DiMarco edged out UFC fighter Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas, and “Good Morning America” weather anchor Ginger Zee and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Maksim’s brother, to win “Dancing with the Stars.”
Chmerkovskiy, who appeared in several seasons of “Dancing with the Stars” before retiring from the show, proposed to Murgatroyd on Dec. 5 while the two were starring in “Sway: A Dance Trilogy” at the Olympia Theater in downtown Miami. “I’m in love with you and I want to be in love with you for the rest of my life,” he said on bended knee onstage, according to The Miami Herald’s Miami.com, which quoted an eyewitness. “Will you marry me?” he asked. When Murgatroyd said yes, the audience and cast cheered, the site reported.
