Maksim Chmerkovskiy says dating on 'DWTS' is 'not necessary'

Maksim Chmerkovskiy spilled all the dirty secrets about what goes on behind the scenes of "Dancing with the Stars."

As far as a pro and star hooking up, Chmerkovskiy laughed and said: "I had, what, 14 partners? I've dated one. And it was early, and I was younger, and it was not necessary, but that's a fact of 'Dancing with the Stars.' "

Chmerkovskiy is gearing up for his live show called "Sway 2.0," which premieres Dec. 17 at The Space in Westbury. Also on the bill is Olympic gold medalist ice dancer Meryl Davis, his celebrity partner from last season's "Dancing with the Stars." The two will reprise a couple of their routines from the show.

"It's very nostalgic . . . reminiscing, people are gonna love seeing those two routines back," he said. "I'm not gonna say which ones they are, but it'll be a great show for Meryl."

"Sway 2.0" will also feature his brother, Val Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Peta Murgatroyd and Zendaya.
