Martin's memoir leads to 'spiritual healing'
Ricky Martin and his publisher Thursday announced that the singer's memoir would be released Nov. 2. Titled "Me" in its English edition and "Yo," meaning "I" or "me," in its Spanish edition, the 304-page hardcover will address his time with the boy band Menudo, his coming out as gay in March and his being a single dad to twin toddlers.
In writing the book, "I've had to tie up loose ends that I'd never attempted to tie up before, to work deeply into memories that were already erased from my mind," Martin said in a statement from Celebra/Penguin Group, his publisher. "Allowing myself to do this was not easy, but once I started an incredible spiritual healing began . . . and I wanted to share my sense of discovery."
After his stint with Menudo ended in 1991, the Puerto Rico-born Martin, 38, won a Grammy Award for best Latin pop album for 1998's "Vuelve." The following year he scored a major international hit with composers Desmond Child and Robi Rosa's "Livin' la Vida Loca."
His sons, Matteo and Valentino, were born in August 2008.
