Lindsay Lohan's estranged father, Michael Lohan, said Wednesday that for the sake of his "family's health and well-being," he "will not be commenting on anything relating to my daughter Lindsay or anything [that] my ex-wife Dina, or any 'sources' related to her, might say."

In an e-mailed statement to the media, he said, "I realize that no matter how wrong or right I may have been, at the end of the day, I was wrong for offending my ex-wife and my children."

Michael Lohan, 50, has often expressed concern that his daughter's substance-abuse problems, for which she is in rehab at the Betty Ford Center, stemmed in part from her mother and manager Dina Lohan's stewardship.

"For the sake of those I offended, I apologize and ask their forgiveness," he said, adding that, "No matter what accusations, lies or conjecture are disseminated to the public about me, for the sake of the ones I love, and with hope of creating peace, I will not respond in any way. . . . So please refrain from calling or contacting me."

Lindsay Lohan's next court hearing for her probation violation is Friday.
