Mike Sorrentino -- "The Situation" -- of MTV's "Jersey Shore" shot back at TMZ, which wrote a report yesterday claiming he had checked into a rehab facility.
Sorrentino's rep reportedly told TMZ that the "Shore" star "has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule."
Sorrentino tweeted a response to the rumors:
"Do NOT Believe Everything You Hear, Especially from TMZ" he posted Wednesday. With the post he linked to an article titled "Official Situation."
"This is just like the childhood game of 'telephone," the article says. "Someone hears a small rumor and blows it out of proportion."
MTV Monday announced a sixth season of the show, to begin production this summer.
Sorrentino tweeted earlier Tuesday, "Getting in amazing shape for season 6!"
Representatives for Sorrentino and MTV did not respond to Newsday's requests for comment.
