Former "Jersey Shore" reality-TV star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was released on $500 bail Tuesday following a fistfight at his family's Boca Tanning Club in Middletown, N.J.

"On Tuesday afternoon we responded to a 911 call at Boca in reference to a fight in progress," Det. Lt. Steve Dollinger told People magazine. "Upon arrival, our officers arrested Mike Sorrentino for simple assault. He is in the process of posting $500 bail and the matter will be set for a court date."

TMZ.com said Sorrentino had been fighting with his older brother, Frank. The two, along with middle brother Marc, their sister Melissa and their mother Linda star in the TV Guide Network reality show "The Sorrentinos," scheduled to debut July 15. The eight-episode series, the network said, follows the Howell, N.J., family as Melissa prepares for her wedding, Marc attempts to start a DJ career, and Frank, a former child actor, tries to return to the acting profession.

Marc Sorrentino additionally runs the franchised tanning salon, the network said. The shop's webpage carries a "Grand Opening" banner. Boca Tanning Club has locations in New York, New Jersey, Florida and Texas.

Mike Sorrentino has not commented on the arrest, and The Associated Press said messages left for Sorrentino's publicist and for a California attorney who previously represented him were not immediately returned. No court date has been announced.
