Mirren replaces Midler in HBO film
Helen Mirren has replaced Bette Midler in HBO Films' untitled Phil Spector movie, says the Hollywood Reporter. Midler was forced to bow out of the project after suffering a herniated disc that may require surgery. Mirren will play Linda Kenney Braden, a defense attorney who represented Spector during his first trial for murder. Al Pacino will play Spector. The project was written by David Mamet, who will direct. Midler's injury caused cancellation of a scheduled shoot earlier this week at the Nassau County Courthouse in Mineola.
