While having Bristol Palin compete helped the show's ratings, "Dancing with the Stars" judge Carrie Ann Inaba doesn't expect to see either of Palin's parents on the show anytime soon.
"I think one Palin was enough for awhile," she told E! Online yesterday. "I think we need to go on a Palin vacation for a minute." Reports said last week that the ABC show was interested in having Todd Palin compete.
Although having the daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin "was great media attention, I think it was too controversial," Inaba said. "I think people got confused about what they were rooting for: Are you voting for dancing on the show or are you voting for a [political] party? I think that made it very uncomfortable for a lot of people who just want to see a dance competition. I like to keep it simple." Palin finished third.
Bristol Palin, 20, has dismissed talk that her mother had pushed her to perform. "Let me be blunt: my mom did not 'force' me to go on 'DWTS,' " she posted on Facebook Saturday, according to media accounts. "She did not ask me either. The show approached me. I thought about it. I made the decision."
Bristol Palin was mocked on Friday by comedian Kathy Griffin, who made weight jokes while hosting the "VH1 Divas Salute the Troops" special, which aired Sunday night. The audience booed, and Palin told Fox News Monday that this "reaction to this 'comedian' spoke volumes, and the decent people I know would probably have booed her, too."
