After 11 years and three children together, actors Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth have announced they are divorcing.
"While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children," the couple said in a joint statement Tuesday. "We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time."
Just the previous night, Facinelli, 38 -- who plays vampire patriarch Carlisle Cullen in the "Twilight" films and the beleaguered Dr. Fitch "Coop" Cooper on Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" -- attended the Los Angeles premiere of "The Hunger Games" accompanied by eldest daughter, Luca Bella, 14.
The couple's other daughters are Lola Ray, 9, and Fiona Eve, 5. Garth, 39, is best known for playing Kelly Taylor on the 1990-2000 Fox teen drama "Beverly Hills, 90210," a role she reprised on the first two seasons (2008-10) of The CW's sequel "90210." In 2007, she appeared on "Dancing With the Stars," finishing fourth.
Garth and Facinelli met on the set of the 1996 ABC TV-movie "An Unfinished Affair." She was executive producer and played the collegiate mistress of art teacher Alex Connor, played by Tim Matheson. Facinelli played his son, whom Garth's character seduces as revenge when the teacher ends the affair.
The couple married Jan. 20, 2001, in Santa Barbara, Calif. As recently as August 2010, Garth described her husband to People magazine as "really foxy. I've always thought, 'Wow, I'm super lucky.' He's a babe."
Facinelli was raised in Ozone Park, Queens; his parents now live in Bellmore.
