Rancic recovering from double mastectomy
Giuliana Rancic has completed the double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery that earlier this month she announced she would undergo for her breast cancer.
Her husband, real-estate developer Bill Rancic, said the "E! News" co-anchor was in great spirits Wednesday morning following the successful procedure Tuesday night.
"G is doing really well," he told "E! News." "Her surgery lasted about four hours and the doctors were very pleased with the result."
He added, "She had a little bit of pain through the night but is feeling much better this morning and was cracking jokes."
Giuliana Rancic, 37, said through an E! statement Wednesday, "I want to thank all the viewers and fans for their support and prayers. The tweets and notes have not gone unnoticed. I am very grateful."
Rancic announced on Oct. 17 that doctors had diagnosed breast cancer. She underwent a double lumpectomy and then scheduled six weeks of radiation therapy, but later opted for the mastectomy when follow-up tests indicated the persistence of cancer.
