Jessica Simpson is dating once more, and again is going out with a football player. The pop singer, who turns 30 on Saturday, has begun seeing former NFL pro Eric Johnson - who played tight end for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints from 2001 to 2007 (he's not the unrelated, same-name linebacker who played for the Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals from 2000 to 2005.)

From November 2007 until just under a year ago, Simpson had dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Her current romance began in May, according to TMZ.com, which first reported the news.

"She is happy that she found a great guy," an unnamed friend of the singer told People magazine. "She's really happy."

Johnson, being retired, presumably won't become a victim of the "Jessica Jinx." That term briefly entered popular culture after Simpson in December 2007 appeared in a luxury suite at Texas Stadium, wearing a pink Cowboys jersey with Romo's No. 9 on it. The Cowboys lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 10-6 - with Romo completing just 13 of 36 passes for 214 yards, with no touchdowns and three interceptions. It was one of the worst performances of his career.
